After 17 years of attending events at The Center at Eastman, many Eastman Members have expressed dismay that their favorite events will not be held this winter. Au contraire! Most of the more popular events are merely moving to South Cove Activity Center (SCAC).
Please note that all of these events are open to everyone by “reservation only” through Bistro Nouveau at 603-863-8000; you cannot make reservations through SCAC’s front desk. All include food and beverage service from Bistro Nouveau. Eastman’s weekly email newsletter, Eastman Highlights, will have exact dates and complete details as the events get closer.
JOSA (Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon) is one of the most popular events held at The Center. Currently in its 24th season, JOSA is held every other weekend through April 10. Complete information and tickets are at www.josajazz.com.

The Center Presents returns in February, with programs scheduled two Wednesdays each month. While you don’t need to make reservations to attend the program, you must make reservations if you want to have dinner from Bistro Nouveau prior to the program.
Bistro Brain Busters Trivia with Kathy Pomer and, as I call them, “her crack team of triviologists” will be held in January, February and March. Teams of six or fewer players will still compete for fabulous prizes and bragging rights. Don’t forget to study up!
Jason Cann will still help kick off your weekend with his acoustical style the first Friday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m..
The Wine Tasting Group at Eastman has a wine dinner scheduled for January 27 at SCAC. Paid reservations through the WTGE are required in advance. Watch Eastman Highlights for details on the types of wines and the cost.
Valentines can celebrate their love with a special Bistro Nouveau dinner on February 12 and 13 at SCAC, and a St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be held on March 17 featuring, what else?, corned beef.
An all–new Supper Club will be held two Fridays each month with Bistro Nouveau providing a three-course menu.
While the weekly bridge games held at 1 p.m. every Thursday moved to The Knights of Columbus Hall, 57 Hanover Street in Lebanon, the ever-popular Bridge Camp and Tournament will be held at SCAC during the week of April 18.
One thing not moving to South Cove is Eastman Cross Country Center, which is operating out of a trailer in The Center parking lot. They still rent skis, skates and snowshoes and have sleds to borrow. And the skating rink is again in the overflow parking lot on Greensward Drive with lights for night skating.
With all this going on, there’s no reason to hibernate at Eastman.
