You may have noticed a new face at the South Cove Member Services Desk for the past few months now or heard somebody with an accent answering your calls: it’s me! You may also have seen me around West Cove walking my two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Ursa and Alces.
I grew up in Brittany, France on the north coast. I had studied sport in college and worked as a camp counselor during the summers, when I decided to move overseas. I moved to Dublin, Ireland for a year before landing in New Hampshire.

I arrived in the US on an extremely cold January day 15 years ago. Let me tell you, the definition of cold is very different in Brittany than New England! I do not know if some of you have seen the movie Cool Runnings, but there’s a funny scene when the Jamaican bobsled team arrives in Canada. Well, that was me at the train station in Boston, opening my suitcase to figure out what clothes I could layer on while waiting for the train to New Hampshire.
I had a job as a nanny when I first arrived and enrolled in the Hotel Administration Program at New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) in Concord. Once I got my certificate, I decided to continue my education, receiving an associate degree in Business Administration at NHTI and a BS in Business Administration from Franklin Pierce College.
As an international student, I had an opportunity to work for a year at the end of my degree program and took it. I worked at the Center for Advanced Veterinary Care (AVC) in Manchester, almost from their opening day. I worked many positions there, from the front desk to veterinary technician.
I re-enrolled for my MBA at Franklin Pierce at the end of the contract and graduated in 2012. I started working as a research associate for Merchant Mechanics, a neuromarketing company in West Lebanon, and later managed their consumer neuroscience lab. I moved to Eastman last February.
I was looking for a different job and saw an opening for an administrative assistant in Eastman. I went to South Cove and introduced myself to Chief Community Living Officer Leslie Moses. Fast forward through the interview process and here I am!
I love my job here. The team and the community are exceptional; it has been fantastic from day one.
Outside of work, I am a research nut. I love genealogy, and researching family history and archives. I have researched many family trees with roots in the US, Italy, Ireland, Slovenia, Germany, and, of course, France. I even got a dear friend of mine her Irish citizenship last summer, and another friend his Italian citizenship. I love the different stories and even the skeletons that are unearthed— it’s an obsession!
Stop by South Cove to say hi sometime. I can take your ID photo, give you parking passes, answer your questions, book you a room at South Cove, and more.
Chris Pollard feels right at home as Eastman’s new assistant golf pro and Nordic ski assistant. That’s because he lives in Eastman with his daughters, Danielle and Olivia. Chris was hired last spring, and it has been a wonderful pairing.

Chris Pollard
Chris graduated from Lebanon High School in 1989, where he played four years of varsity golf. He was the head professional at Claremont Country Club and at the Newport Golf Club. He just completed his 12th season as the varsity golf coach at his alma mater.
Golfing and coaching are his passions, and he loves to share his knowledge with golfers of all levels. “Lessons can be tailored to individual needs and can take place at the driving range, chipping and putting green, or on the golf course,” Chris said.
Although Chris doesn’t ski (yet), his ice hockey experience should allow him to pick up skate skiing very quickly. That said, Chris is looking forward to learning all the trails in Eastman, which will be quite a feat because we have over 36K (17 miles) of trails.
Whether you ski or not, stop by the Eastman Golf and Ski Pro Shop this winter to visit. He may give you some pointers to improve your ice skating or golf game.
