At ground level, when checking traffic right and left to emerge from Eastman’s main entrance, the sign for the Grantham Greenway catches one’s eye. Thereupon are listed the businesses occupying “The Greenway,” a nine-plus-acre plot that is one of the commercially zoned sections of Eastman.
Ownership of this property changed in 2015, purchased by Northwind Security Products, LLC. On Route 10, the most notable change after the purchase was a refurbished sign. Not as obvious is that all the tenants are within the healthcare and service sectors, such as physical therapy, massage, and fitness.
There remain two available building lots in The Greenway. According to property manager Karen Seamans, the owners hope additional health care service providers will be interested in the location and a facility can be built to fit the business’s requirements. Karen noted that interested businesses should contact her.*
On a side note, Karen said they had approached Trader Joe’s, which was not inclined to open a location in Grantham. She said this was because the data influencing their business plan includes the number of stoplights in the area as the supposed indication of road traffic, which is the grand predictor of buyer traffic!
Indeed, the dearth of stoplights is no predictor for the businesses currently in The Greenway, all of which are well supported. Several Eastman and area residents are employed within The Greenway, and the businesses are appreciated and growing.
Moving up into an aerial view, the features of the Greenway take on a futuristic perspective. The drone photo shows improvements to the property. The need for more space at Pearl’s Little Angels day care center has resulted in an addition to that building. Parking has been improved and expanded. Newly installed lighting is helpful in the dark afternoons of winter and with evening appointments year round.
As can be felt in the present-day usage and the hopes for the future, the attitude towards The Greenway is a caring one, with carefully selected tenants and the upgrades to the property itself. “We put our hearts into everything we have done and continue to do at The Greenway, keeping in mind the best interests and needs of Eastman and Grantham communities,” Karen said.
